The photographic skills of the Cork Camera Group are illustrated through a series of evocative and striking images in the Group’s annual exhibition, now on at the Cork Vision Centre. The show was opened last week by Brian Lougheeed, Picture Editor of the Evening Echo, and will continue until March 29th.
Called in there today to have a look. There are quite a few very good pictures as you'd expect, and virtually every kind of subject is covered. There seems to be less on show than last year, which is no harm, though they are still a few (very few) photographic clichés on view.
Hard to pick a favourite from the dozens on offer but I must say I did like the portrait entitled Sanliurfa by Shane O'Sullivan.
There is also one wide format picture that many of you might like. It by Donal O'Doherty and was taken while the snow was on the ground. From the high viewpoint of Audley Place, up above the top of St Patrick's Hill, he takes in a huge panorama from the southside to the northside of the city. The northside is of course nearer the lens and landmarks such as Shandon and the North Cathedral stand out.
There is still plenty of time to check it out for yourself and see what you like!
